A practical outlook on everything to know about the Apple PowerBook laptop.

A large number of people have eagerly looked around at many of the changes in technology for years, constantly scanning and looking for the next great advance that will allow them to have the latest and greatest computer.

The majority of computer companies have released numerous previous versions of laptops and Apple is certainly no exception.

But how are you supposed to know which laptops from the past are still good and useful, and which need to be safely packed away or only used for very light tasks?

The good news is that many of the older Apple PowerBook laptop models are still quite capable machines and they are well worth taking a look at if you are looking for something affordable that is still highly functional.

It is especially important to remember and understand that Apple PowerBook laptop has been around since as long ago as October 1991 PowerBook 100 laptop.

This as well as the PowerBook Duo was designed to be amongst the latest and greatest laptops that were on the market at the time.

As time went on various versions were released which have ended up with the newest models of the MacBook which are the highly powerful and versatile models that are available today.

Along the way, the Apple PowerBook laptop has made a few stops along the way including the highly popular PowerBook 500 model, which was released in 1994.

This was a model that was featured with a tiny 25-33MHz processor speed, something that by today’s standards is considered more than dinosaur.

With a freshly designed track pad and a whopping 4MB of RAM included, this was considered the ultimate laptop of its time.

However as tends to happen, technology advanced and there were several Apple approved upgrades that would allow you to change in the chipset for a 100MHz processor and double the RAM, which would give you a nice 8MB of RAM to work with.

The next models that rolled out where the PowerBook 5300 models. These were a substantial upgrade from the previous model however they were considered highly buggy.

With speeds that were 117MHz and offered a much more generous 32MB of RAM as well as hot-swappable drives this was considered the flagship model for Apple.

However, even compared to recent standards this is still a very far cry from anything that is advanced enough to still be actively used today.

The next model to really step out was the Apple PowerBook laptop G3 series, these featured processors that ranged from 233MHz to a highly generous 300MHz and provided several different screen sizes to choose from including 12 inch, 13 inch and even a big 14-inch screen.

The G3 series also saw the start of the FireWire ports for laptops as well, which is a technology still highly actively used today.

Overall, while this may be a model that is still considered quite old with the release of 1998 it is still capable of being used today effectively.

The next upgrade came in the form of the Apple PowerBook laptop G4, this was released starting in 2001 and brought with it numerous advances including a wide range of speeds ranging from 400MHz to as fast as 1GHz which gave a huge assortment of choices for users to decide between.

Additionally, the usage of three different screen sizes, 12 inches, 15 inches and even a very large 17-inch model.

This is still today considered a highly desirable model that can command several hundreds of dollars in order to purchase one of these machines and while they are not top of the line, they are still quite respectable.
