Yes, you read it right! You DO NOT have to be a computer guru to fix the most common laptop problems! I know, because I have been there too!

That is why I struck out and discovered information on the top 5 most common issues that I had with my laptop and decided to write this! Here, you will be provided with some quick and simple laptop computer repair solutions to getting that pesky system up and running again!

The everyday, "average" computer user generally has a limitation on the knowledge surrounding the technical aspects of a laptop. Now, don't go getting offended by that statement. I simply say that based on my personal experience. I AM the everyday, average user! We are very often filled with tidbits of information from friends, neighbors, family members, and even the media that one itsy, bitsy problem can explode into a massive meltdown of our laptop if we do not fix it right away.

While I DID discover that there ARE some laptop computer repair issues that can wreck havoc on our systems, I found that the "common" complications that we face generally do not. So, in an attempt to prevent you from spending hours on the phone with some tech support guy that is not fluent in English, and paying out a massive amount of money for technical support, I am going to give you the whole low down, run down on what is going on...

Let's GO!

The Laptop Fails to Turn On

If the laptop fails to turn on, you freak! I know I did! The first and most obvious step is to plug in the system to see if this makes a difference. In many instances, the battery in the laptop simply lost power. Normally, plugging it in and allowing it to charge for a bit is rather beneficial and actually resolves the problem.

However, there are some instances in which there could be some other issues going on as far as the hardware of the system is concerned. Before you go losing it, try to change out the plug that goes from the laptop to the electrical outlet. It could be possible that this is damaged or has a short somewhere.

If you find that these steps fail to resolve the problem, it may be time for professional assistance as it could be a case of a failed motherboard.

The Laptop Operates Very Slowly

I will tell you, I honestly hate it when I have a lot of log on my laptop. Programs take a long time to open up, internet pages load slowly, and it even starts up slower than usual! We all enjoy downloading something - be it music, pictures, videos, whatever…this stuff takes up a lot of space! First, I suggest getting an external hard drive and storing all that "extra" stuff on it. Then, I suggest removing all those bulk files from the desktop.

The more stuff you have there, the more slowly it will turn on and operate. Next, remember to empty out that recycle bin frequently. Then, I suggest that you do a "defrag" so that the pieces of your programs are not scattered all over the place, and that they are condensed for faster processing speed. These laptop computer repair steps typically resolve any and all problems when it comes to the system bogging down and running slowly.

The Laptop Does Not Connect to the Internet

This is VERY frustrating! You start up, let everything load, click on your icon to go online and "Page Cannot be Displayed" - what the heck? Alright, this is really simple: First, make certain that your drivers to your modem and wireless device are all up to date. If that does not work, make certain that the components are working properly.

If you find that they are, and you are still offline - check the username, password, key code, or whatever it is that you are using to authenticate. Is the Caps Lock key on? Is the Num Lock key on or off? Do you even know what you should be entering? In the WORST case scenario, you may have a hardware failure with the wireless device, or the modem. Both are relatively easy to fix, but you may need the services of a professional.

Annoying Pop-Ups!

Pop-Ups are one of the most annoying issues that can occur on a laptop. Trust me, pop-up after pop-up really gets ME popped up, as I am sure it does you too! For this issue, you will want to ensure that you use an effective pop-up blocker. It probably would not hurt to use adware, spyware, and malware prevention software as well.

You will also want to glance at your add-ons, start up programs, and installed programs list to determine if you may have accidentally downloaded a program online with another offer that may be causing the popups. If none of these laptop computer repair tips prove to be effective, backup all your sensitive data, and do a complete system restore back to factory settings.

The Ever-Annoying Battery

Laptops are great! They are mobile, weigh just a little, and convenient. However, they really REEK when the battery fails to hold a charge. Your battery should last anywhere from three to five hours. If it fails to last this long, there are a couple of things that you should do. First, go into the power planning section on your computer in the laptop and make sure that it is on balanced, or power saving.

Then, understand that many programs may actually drain the battery, so you should close out anything that is not necessary. It is also important that you do not allow the battery to remain in the system if it is plugged in constantly. The constant ebb and flow of a battery may result in degradation. If all of this fails, it may be time for a replacement!

Now, see? Wasn't that easy laptop computer repair? You do not have to be a computer guru, spend hours on the phone, or wipe out your savings to fix the most common laptop problems!
