The company that develops Lenovo laptops was founded in China in 1984 by Li Chuanzhi, he was with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Asia's largest PC manufacturer.
I thought it interesting what the name meant, "Le" is from Legend and "novo" is pseudo-Latin for "new". They came to the US to become one of the top two in consumer ratings having the best laptop in the industry.
Lenovo received an 8.2 rating from PC Magazine overall survey (linked), an 8.42 rating in reliability.
They are rated in PC Worlds top 10 power laptops. They have 2 laptops ranked in PC Worlds top 10 all-purpose laptops.
They are ranked #1, #2 and #3 in PC Worlds top 10 ultra portable laptops, incredible! The ThinkPad R61 was voted this past September, 2007, as the Top All Purpose Laptop by PC World.

Lenovo 3000 Laptops
Lenovo laptops 3000 C: In July 2007, Lenovo was given the blue ribbon award for the Top Laptop Under $1000 for the 3000 C200.
This is a notebook model for the person that may be starting their own business and needs a great computer to keep everything in order. It is very thin and only weighs 6.2 lbs.
It comes with Genuine Windows Vista Intel dual-core processors and the new Lenovo 11n Multiple Input/Multiple Output (MIMO) technology providing incredible Wireless LAN performance.
3000 N: This model has a lot of great features at an even greater price. This has features to run a small business or just for personal use.
There are two widescreen models, a 14.1" and 15.4", both with Windows Vista and the latest technology of Intel Cetrino Duo Mobile.
They offer a built-in security with an integrated fingerprint reader.
Lenovo Thinkpad Laptops
ThinkPad: there are many models to choose from in the ThinkPad series. These are the best Lenovo laptops available.
Each comes with Windows XP, except for the Reserve Edition, which comes with Windows Vista. They range in price from under $700 up to $5,000. I will list the different series briefly.
R Series: Great for everyday computing, personal use giving great mainstream performance at a wonderful price. Weighing in at 5.4 lbs. Perfect for the home office.
Priced from $680 to $900. Earning awards in 2007 for Top All Purpose Laptops by PC World and Best Laptops for Students by CNET in 2007, as well as winning Editors' review – 4 out of 5, July 2007.
T Series: Weight starting at 4.5 lbs, this laptop is great for home and work, providing excellent performance and portability.
It includes the ISV-certified mobile workstations. Priced range $970 to $1300.
X Series: This is the thinnest and the lightest model, weighing only 2.7 lbs., making portability a breeze.
Improved battery life over other models making mobility even easier. Prices range from $1,030 to $1,400.
X Series Tablet: This is function as a Tablet and a notebook computer. It only weighs a mere 3.8 lbs, making mobility easy and convenient.
It provides a great feature giving you the flexibility to take handwritten notes directly onto the screen. Prices ranging from $1,550 to $2,100.
Reserve Edition: This is the Executive class ThinkPad notebook that has style of its own.
It comes with a hand-sewn leather cover and of course, comes with the high-end features and technology and comes with exclusive services. Prices start at $5,000.
With the ratings, prices, reviews and quality, all say these Lenovo laptops are definitely winners.
