Sony Vaio AR series, everything you need to know about them.
The monster of the Sony line is the Sony Vaio AR Series "desktop replacement" – with a stunning 17.1" LCD wide screen, the AR is gorgeous, an attention magnet, and still surprisingly light, though its size means you tend to lug it around rather than slinging it into your bag to take with you. Like all laptops in this size range, it comes with every feature imaginable in a portable computer, and you have several customization options. The Sony Vaio AR Series is a multimedia powerhouse with the power of a normal desktop. The Sony Vaio AR series features a full-sized keyboard and a spacious 17" widescreen LCD coupled with an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor and an NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8400M graphics card. This laptop supports the standard 802.11 a/b/g connections as well as the new and considerably faster Wireless-N standard. The Wireless-N standard also has considerably more range than 802.11 a/b/g connections. You can even wirelessly stream video throughout your home or office with blazing-fast speed. It also features a 1.3 megapixel camera for video messaging. The Sony Vaio AR series offers optional Blu-ray Disc™-ROM (BD-ROM) drive that combines the power of HD Blu-ray Disc™ video playback with the convenience and utility of DVD and CD read/write functionality. AR notebooks also feature an HDMI™ output so you can view all your HD video and audio content in full 1080HD on your compatible HDTV. This version comes with a Blu-ray Disc™ for enhanced movie viewing and extra data storage. You'll also find XBRITE-HiColorTM LCD technology in the display. With the Blu-ray Disc™ optical drive you can edit, burn and store up to 50GB of data or video. Another option for this series is a high-end HD widescreen LCDs that lets you watch your media in full 1080HD. And with an NTSC and ATSC TV tuner and CableCARD™ support, you can watch analog TV, digital TV and premium subscription-based cable HD content on your PC, or record it all directly to the hard drive for convenient on-demand viewing.
