How Does it Rate?

The Sony Vaio SZ series performance specifications are slightly higher than the TZ series, but the big boost comes from the 13.2" wide screen format display, running at 1680x1050 resolution, with a new, cutting edge, LED backlight.

That LED backlight allows the SZ to boast battery life while still maintaining a slim profile. There are a few more choices in ports in this laptop, again due to the larger chassis.

This Sony Vaio SZ series measures a mere 1" thin with a 13.3" widescreen display with XBRITE™ LCD technology. This line features a durable magnesium or carbon-fiber casing (depending on the model).

The Sony Vaio SZ series features an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor with an 800MHz Front Side Bus. This is enough horsepower to run most applications with solid speed.

The Hybrid Graphics System lets you control efficiency and output so you can choose whether you want to conserve battery power while, say, watching a movie, or instead enhance the experience by utilizing the external NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8400M graphics chip.

The Sony Vaio SZ series supports 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN connection methods. Wireless-N technology supports a great deal more range than 802.11a/b/g when connected.

This series also supports an optional integrated wireless Wide Area Network (WAN) technology through Sprint® Mobile Broadband. Sprint's Mobile Broadband service is the nation's largest mobile broadband network.

The Sony Vaio SZ series contains a biometric fingerprint sensor to prevent unauthorized access to your laptop, as well as a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) that allows you to set the level of security on a specific client or user basis.

To protect the hard drive, and your data, against the impact shocks any laptop endures, the laptop contains G-Sensor™ Shock Protection to reduce the risk damaged to the hard drive.

The Sony Vaio SZ Series Premium Notebook

The premium version is a lightweight laptop measuring a mere 0.9" thin5 with a 13.3" widescreen display. It also features a XBRITE™ LCD display and also has a white LED backlight for higher brightness levels than standard displays.

This results in deeper blacks, brighter whites, better color and sharp detail.

This laptop is protected by a carbon-fiber casing, the same material used to keep jet airplanes and sports cars light yet durable.

There is an optional innovative Windows ReadyDrive™ hybrid hard drive available, a technology that shortens boot-up times and enhances overall performance speeds.
