The Sony Vaio UX Series Revealed
In this article we’ll be discussing the Sony Vaio UX Series. Consumer Electronics giant Sony has been in the laptop market for a very long time, and as a result, has a wide range of laptops for different form factors, usually with a confusing (to non-geek) array of codes, model numbers and more. The smallest of the line is their Sony Vaio UX Series of Micro PCs. These are somewhere between a PDA with a slide out thumb board and a very small laptop. Expect to pay a serious premium for the small form factor. Unlike a PDA, these laptops are running a full version of Windows and have a real battery. These laptops are too large to fit comfortably in a shirt pocket and too small to do effective typing on, but for some users and some applications, they're the right tool for the job. These laptops are about the width and height of a postcard and at only 1.1 lbs.1 with standard battery and a 4.5" wide screen display. This laptop is designed for true PC performance in a very small and streamlined profile. These laptops also feature two built in cameras, one for video and one for photos. The Sony Vaio UX Series uses a cutting-edge solid state drive as its form of data storage. A solid state drive stores data in non mechanical memory (similar to a flash drive), allowing faster access to select applications (up to 37% faster than hard drives), enhanced durability (since there are no moving parts) and conserves power. The laptop's size makes it easy to carry around but what really makes it truly portable is the powerful set of wireless access methods. This series supports the AT&T EDGE network5 and 802.11 A, B and G. It also has full Bluetooth support for peripherals.
